In a wedding, it’s always the bride’s dress that catches attention the most. But this doesn’t mean that a groom’s attire is not worth the effort. A groom’s wedding attire should hold its own beside the bride’s. To help you make your formal wear look great, here are some tips to consider.

Good fit

Make sure that everything fits well. The suit jacket should allow you to make a full range of movements, whether it’s buttoned or unbuttoned. Remember that you wouldn’t just stand stiffly during the whole event. There would be lots of shaking of hands, hugging and dancing.

One finger should fit between your shirt’s collar and your neck. For the cuffs, it should exactly rest at the wrist and must not ride up every time you stretch your arms. Your vest should fit comfortably when buttoned and ride just below your pant’s waistband. As for the pants, It should hit just about 1/3 of the way down your shoe.

Dress accordingly

You have a wide range of formal wear options, depending on how formal your wedding is and the time of day. For example, if you are going for a late afternoon wedding, a standard tux is fine as opposed to a suit with cutaway jacket, which is appropriate for a formal daytime wedding.

Accessorize

Wearing a dapper suit is not enough. Accessories can make you look more dashing as they turn your suit into an impressive ensemble. Stylish cuff links and stud sets can make your formal wedding attire look great and elegant. For your vest, choose a color and pattern that complements with the wedding party’s attire.

You have a choice between a long tie or a bow tie to complete your formal wedding attire. For a tuxedo, remember that long ties are less formal than bow ties. Also, take note that white ties are for ultra-formal themes, black ties are for formal and colored ties could fit in just about any occasion.

Make sure that you’ll be wearing a simple yet elegant leather shoes. Take the time to give them a professional shine to have them looking great.
